Eleven Duiker was born from a shared dream — to create a place where the beauty of the West Coast meets the warmth of genuine hospitality.

Lorraine and Alex, with roots in both the Netherlands and South Africa, bring a unique blend of European attention to detail and Cape-born warmth to every guest experience. After years of traveling and collecting inspiration from the world's finest boutique hotels, they settled on the shores of Melkbosstrand to build something deeply personal.

Every room, every breakfast plate, every sunset drink on the terrace reflects their philosophy: luxury should feel effortless, hospitality should feel like coming home, and the ocean should always be within reach.

Our former name, Lorax, was a quiet blend of our own — Lorraine and Alex. It first belonged to our practice in Voorthuizen, a place shaped by the same care we now bring to the coast. Today, our guesthouse is called Eleven Duiker.

For years, while living in the Netherlands, Lorraine and Alex were asked the same question by friends, family, and colleagues: 'Can we come with you on holiday to South Africa? We just don't know where to start.'

Time and again, they found themselves guiding others through the planning, the bookings, the hidden gems, and the must-sees. And every time, the same thought returned: one day, they would create something that made this effortless for guests visiting from abroad or outside of South Africa.

That day has arrived. Eleven Duiker is not simply a place to stay — it is the answer to that question. A thoughtfully designed retreat where guests can experience Cape Town without the uncertainty, the overwhelm, or the endless research.

At Your Pace

Dining at the Guesthouse

On selected evenings it is possible to dine with us. A light, home-cooked menu, served in the dining room or outside on the terrace, with the sound of the ocean in the background.

On arrival we tell you which evenings we serve. Let us know at breakfast and we will set a table for you. Prefer something smaller? Every evening you can also order a snack platter in your suite or by the pool.
